CGT Meeting on Labor Reform

CGT leaders, dissatisfied with the leadership's negotiating position, met to pressure and organize a strike against the government's labor reform.

CGT Meeting on Labor Reform

Buenos Aires, January 21 (NA) — The general secretary of the UOM, Abel Furlán, was heading on Wednesday afternoon at the union's headquarters in the capital a meeting with a group of CGT leaders who seek to pressure the leadership to show greater toughness in the strategy against the government's labor reform. The meeting began after 4 p.m., sources from the UOM told the Argentine News Agency, and included representatives of unions such as Luz y Fuerza; the Aviation Personnel Association (APA); APLA Pilots; the Ceramic Workers Federation (Focra) and Road Workers, among others. This is a minority group that does not look favorably on the negotiating position of the CGT leadership and promotes more mobilizations and a new strike for the first days of February, before the project is dealt with in the Senate.
